I'm now going to broadcast to you
The first of a series of Christmas messages
It is a personal message
Straight from my own home to you all
To men and women so cut off by the snows
The desert or the sea
That only voices out of the air can reach them
To those cut off from home
From their friends and families
By the active service on which they are engaged
And to all who for one reason or another
Are spending their Christmas alone
I speak now from my home and from my heart
To you all
To each of you in whatever part of the world you may be
Whether you are celebrating Christmas at the moment
Or whether you are looking forward to celebrating it
At some other season of the year
I wish you happiness
And above all I wish you peace
I cannot end my Christmas message
Without speaking a word of encouragement
To those who are fighting
Our battles on land and sea and in the air
God bless you and bring you victory
And may God bless and keep you all
